UPDATE : READ THE FULL REVIEW HERE

Nauticam NA-RX100Digital compact cameras are really once again getting interesting. There are already a of couple serious large sensor sized compacts out there and now Sony has joined this game. Their latest “Canon killer” the DSC-RX100 hit the shops month back and now Nauticam claims another scalp by making a housing for it.

The Sony RX100 is a 20 megapixel camera with huge 1” (13.2x 8.8) CMOS sensor. It’s like a beefed up Canon S100. Nauticam’s aluminium NA-RX100 housing has the all usual Nauticam treats like a 67mm port thread and an accessory shoe combined with the amazing ergonomics. This housing can take both wide and macro lenses and will be selling for about 650 pounds.

Here’s a additional interesting bit from Nauticam’s press release: Nauticam is also announcing a special (V) version of this housing, meant for the serious video shooter. The NA-RX100V housing allows an HDMI bulkhead so that the Nauticam NA-DP4 HDMI Monitor solution can be utilized. The SmallHD HDMI monitor inside the NA-DP4 takes video shooting to the next level. Utilizing DP4 features like Focus Peaking, Focus Assist, False Color, 1:1 Mapping and more, this larger monitor vastly improves composition, focus capability and exposure.

Well, “announced”, you seem to be faster than Nauticam themselves ;-) Can you be fast to test as well? I’m keen to understand what WA-lenses that works well with this housing!

    • Jussi says:

I have the housing already but unfortunately not the camera…

      • James says:

Any idea as to when the camera is likely to arrive?

Really interested in your perspective of this setup compared to the competition and your view of the wet lense options.

Have you decided on which wet lenses you are going to try the housing with?

        Cheers

        James
